Twice in One Day
It's Friday and I didn't want to go to the gym.
I just got back from a 4 day family vacation with my wife and daughter to see my mom, sister, niece, and grandma up in Red Bluff, and I recently switched back to a 5 day split. So I'm tired and out of rhythm, and the excuse showed up sounding reasonable: "I did just increase my workouts, and I was on a break. Maybe I take today off because my body feels tired."
The excuses that actually work on you are the ones that don't sound lazy. They sound like self-care.
So I used the rule from the last post: just go for 5 minutes, and if I still want to leave, I can go home. Of course I ended up finishing a full upper body workout, and I was glad I did.
Then I got home, exhausted, lay down with a protein shake and turned on the tv. I needed to work on my app, SetForward, and the same voice started up again. Same tool: just sit down at the computer for 5 minutes, and if I still don't feel like it, I can get off.
I implemented some features that are needed before beta testing. Then I sat there for another 5 minutes and wrote this.
That's twice in one day the rule beat an excuse that sounded legitimate. What else can I say? You're reading the proof.
Still climbing.
Still leveling up.
