SetForward Privacy Policy

SetForward stores your workout data on your device and collects nothing about you. There is no account, and no server holds your data.

The app is not entirely offline, and this policy will not pretend otherwise: it checks for app updates from Expo’s update service. That check sends technical information about the app and the device — never your workout data. The details are in App updates below.

Nothing.

There is no server operated by the developer of SetForward, and nothing you enter is sent to one. There is no account, no sign-up, no email address, no username and no profile. The one exception to the app being offline is the update check described in App updates below, which carries no workout data.

SetForward does not collect:

• Personal information such as your name, email address or phone number
• Your workout, health or fitness data
• Location data
• Your contacts, photos, or any file other than one you explicitly select
• Advertising identifiers
• Usage analytics or session recordings

There are no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs in the app.

Stored locally, in a database inside the app’s own private storage:

• Your routines, their notes, and the exercises in them
• Your per-exercise configuration: working sets, rep ranges, weight increments, rest durations, whether the exercise is logged per side, and the bar or base weight remembered for the plate calculator
• Your workouts: dates, durations, and every set you logged with its weight and reps
• Your settings: weight unit, default rest duration, whether rest starts automatically, rest between sides, training goal, and an optional weekly workout target

Other apps on your device cannot read this. SetForward never transmits it.

There is no sign-up and no login. You do not create a profile, and you never identify yourself to use any part of the app.

SetForward uses Expo’s over-the-air update service, so that fixes can reach you without waiting on a store release. This is the app’s only network activity.

When it happens. The app checks for an update each time it launches. There is currently no in-app setting to turn this off, but SetForward works completely offline — if the check cannot reach the network it fails quietly and the app carries on.

What the check sends. A request to u.expo.dev, operated by Expo, containing:

• The platform (iOS or Android) and the app’s runtime version
• The update channel the app was built for
• Protocol and API version numbers used by the update service
• Identifiers for the app version currently installed, for the version built into the app as shipped, and for any recent version that failed to start
• An installation identifier: a random value generated by the app on first launch and stored on your device. It is not derived from your device’s hardware, it is not an advertising identifier, and it is not linked to any identity. It distinguishes one installation from another so the service can serve the right update.
• If the app’s previous launch ended in a crash, a truncated copy of that error message, so that a broken update can be identified and withdrawn

As with any internet request, Expo’s servers also see your device’s IP address.

What the check never sends. Your workout data. Your routines, sets, weights, reps, history, notes, records and settings are not part of this request and never leave your device through it.

Who receives it. Expo. The request goes to Expo’s update service; there is no server operated by the developer of SetForward for it to reach. What Expo does with the request is governed by Expo’s own privacy policy: https://expo.dev/privacy

Apart from this update check, SetForward makes no network requests.

Only when you decide it should.

Export backup. Settings → Export backup writes a JSON file containing your SetForward data and hands it to your device’s standard share sheet. You choose the destination — save it to Files, send it to yourself, put it in a cloud drive, or cancel. SetForward does not choose, and does not upload.

Once you place a backup file somewhere, that location’s privacy terms apply to it. A backup saved to a cloud drive is subject to that provider’s policies, not this one.

Restore backup. Settings → Restore from backup uses your device’s standard document picker. SetForward reads only the file you select.

Hevy import. Settings → Import from Hevy uses the same document picker to read a CSV file you select. Nothing is sent anywhere; the file is read on your device and its workouts are added to your local history.

SetForward includes no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting services, no tracking libraries, and no external fitness or health APIs.

The app is built with Expo and React Native, open-source frameworks compiled into the app. The only one of these that communicates over the network is Expo’s update service, described in App updates above.

SetForward does not track you across apps or websites, and does not participate in any advertising network. On iOS it does not use App Tracking Transparency, because it has nothing to ask for.

SetForward is a general-purpose logging tool and is not directed at children. It collects no personal data from anyone, of any age.

Two ways:

1. In the app — Settings → Delete all data permanently removes every routine, workout and set from your device. You will be asked to confirm twice.
2. Delete the app — removing SetForward from your device removes its database with it.

Because everything is stored locally, deleting the app deletes your workout history. Export a backup first if you want to keep it. The developer holds no copy and cannot recover anything for you.

Your data stays on your device until you delete it. There is no retention period on any server, because no server holds your data.

Your SetForward data sits in the app’s private storage area, protected by your device’s operating system and, where enabled, its device encryption. Keeping your device updated and locked with a passcode or biometric is the most effective protection for it.

Backup files you export are ordinary, unencrypted JSON, so that you can open and inspect them. Store them somewhere you consider appropriate.

SetForward is a logging utility. It records numbers you enter and performs arithmetic on them to state a target. It is not medical, health or training advice, and it makes no claims about strength, muscle, body composition, recovery or injury.

Consult a qualified professional before starting or changing how you train.

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new effective date.
